Mostly Me Again
Privacy policy
Last updated October 18, 2026
Mostly Me Again is a personal website run by me, Jona S., in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. This page explains what information I collect, why I collect it, and the choices you have. I’ve kept it as plain as I can.
The short version
- You can read the whole story without telling me anything about yourself.
- There are no ads and no tracking cookies, and I never sell or rent your information.
- I only collect what you choose to give me, like a message, a booking, an email sign-up or membership details. Visit counts, if you allow them, and “I’ve felt this too” taps are anonymous.
- You can ask me to show you, correct or delete what I have about you at any time.
What I collect, and why
When you read the site
The site remembers the last chapter you read, so you can pick up where you left off. It also remembers whether you allowed visit statistics. Both are stored only in your own browser and are never sent to me. You can clear them by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.
When you write to me
The contact form asks for your email, your message and, if you like, your name. I use them only to read and reply to your message. The form is delivered to my inbox by Web3Forms.
When you sign up for the story by email
The sign-up form asks only for your email address. I use it to send you my story: 12 emails, one every three days. The emails are sent by Sender, an email service. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and once you unsubscribe you won’t get any more. You can also ask me to delete your address completely.
When you tap “I’ve felt this too”
The site adds one to an anonymous count for that feeling, so other readers can see they’re not alone. To stop the same person counting a feeling many times, the site briefly keeps a scrambled version of your IP address. It’s scrambled one way with a random value that changes every day, and both are deleted after a day, so it can’t be traced back to you. Your browser also remembers which feelings you’ve marked, on your device only.
The readers and “written to me” counts
The site keeps two simple totals: how many people have read the story, and how many have written to me or signed up for the story by email. They’re shown rounded down, and only once they’re large enough to mean something. To count each person once a day at most, the site uses the same daily-scrambled version of your IP address described above, deleted after a day. Your browser remembers the day you were last counted, on your device only. Only the totals are kept, never who was counted, and never anything you wrote.
When you book an intro call
Bookings are handled by a scheduling service, Cal.com. It collects your name, your email, the time you choose and anything you add to the booking form. Calls take place over a video service such as Google Meet or Zoom. I use these details to hold the call and to follow up with you.
If you become a member
I’ll need your name and email, plus your phone number if you’d like to message me on WhatsApp, or your Slack account for the members’ channel. Payments are handled by a payment processor, so I never see or store your full card details. I keep a record of payments for my business records.
Basic technical information
Like every website, the service that hosts mine, Cloudflare, processes your IP address and basic information about your device and browser to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks.
Visit statistics
If you choose “Allow” when the site asks, I use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service, to count page views, clicks on buttons like “Book a free intro call”, and how far into the story people read. Umami doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t collect information that identifies you. I see totals, not individuals.
If you choose “No thanks”, nothing is counted. The same applies if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, unless you choose “Allow” yourself. You can change your mind anytime with “Privacy choices” at the bottom of every page.
Health information
My story is about anxiety, and you may want to tell me about yours. Please share only what you’re comfortable with, and leave detailed medical information out of the contact form.
What you tell me about your health stays between us. I don’t use it for marketing, and I never share it, except in the situations described under When I might share information.
In the members’ Slack channel, other members can read what you post. Please share there only what you’re comfortable with them seeing.
Services I use
- Cloudflare hosts the site, keeps the anonymous “I’ve felt this too”, readers and “written to me” counts, and protects the site from attacks.
- Sender sends the story by email, only if you sign up.
- Web3Forms delivers contact form messages to my inbox.
- Cal.com handles intro call bookings.
- Google Meet or Zoom for video calls.
- Slack for the members’ channel and direct messages.
- WhatsApp, owned by Meta, for direct messages.
- A payment processor for membership payments.
- Umami for anonymous visit statistics, only if you allow them.
These companies have their own privacy policies. Some of them store information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.
How long I keep it
- Messages and booking details: deleted within 24 months of our last contact, unless you become a member.
- Membership details: kept while you’re a member, and deleted within 12 months after you leave.
- Payment records: kept for six years, because Canadian tax law requires it.
- Story-by-email sign-ups: kept until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete your address.
- Visit statistics, “I’ve felt this too” counts, and the readers and “written to me” counts: anonymous totals that can’t be linked back to you. The scrambled address used to avoid counting anyone twice is deleted after a day.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can ask me to:
- show you the personal information I have about you;
- correct it if it’s wrong;
- delete it, unless I’m required to keep it, like payment records; or
- stop using it, for example by turning off visit statistics or leaving the membership.
Email me at jiglojona@gmail.com and I’ll respond within 30 days. If you’re not happy with my answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the privacy authority where you live.
Children
This site isn’t aimed at children. Intro calls and membership are for adults 18 and over, and I don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Keeping information safe
The site is only served over a secure, encrypted connection (HTTPS). I take reasonable steps to protect your information, including using reputable services and limiting access to it. No system is perfectly secure, so please don’t send anything highly sensitive, like ID numbers or medical records.
Changes to this policy
If I change this policy, I’ll update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects members in a meaningful way, I’ll tell them directly before it takes effect.
Contact
